What’s Going On

Alberta Electoral Boundaries
Every 10 years, ridings are reviewed based on population by the Alberta Electoral Boundaries Commission. Things are changing for 2027.
The final report has been released and offers 2 possible recommendations.
- Majority Report
- Population of 58,171
- Very similar boundaries as the current Calgary Shaw boundaries but Shawnessy and Somerset move to another area.
- New ‘Calgary Shaw’ includes: Silverado, Yorkville, Belmont, Pine Creek, Chaparral, Walden, Legacy
- Minority Report
- Population: 55,134
- ‘Calgary Shaw’ would be divided, with part going into a new riding ‘Calgary South’
- Calgary South would include: Chaparral, Most of Walden, Most of Legacy, Cranston and McKenzie Lake.
- Learn more at https://abebc.ca. The government will determine what the final distribution will be shortly.
