Hi Friends,

As you are likely aware, I will be seeking the provincial UCP MLA nomination for Calgary Shaw due to Rebecca Schulz’s resignation. To win the nomination, I need as many 14+ year-old residents as possible to purchase a $10 UCP membership and vote.

I am looking for your help and support. I apologize for a bit of a longer message, but your assistance is greatly appreciated in the following ways:

  • Social Media Likes & Shares
  • Fundraising
  • March 30th Fundraiser Event & Launch Party
  • Volunteers

Fundraising

A campaign requires significant time and resources. Volunteers are essential to the team, but there are still costs, including technology, phone calls, texting, signage, and printing and delivery of literature. Financial assistance is appreciated.

I am officially registered with Elections Alberta and can provide tax credits/receipts to Alberta Residents. Alberta businesses can also donate and use this as a deduction.

For the first $200 you donate to a political group during the year, you could be eligible for a 75% tax credit. That means, if you donate $200, you get a $150 tax credit.

Volunteers

A campaign is only as strong as the volunteers and supporters that make up the team.

There are several ways to get involved, including:

  • Literature delivery
  • Door Knocking with Mike
  • Phone calls
  • Selling memberships
  • Social Media support

And during the election period, we also need:

  • Sign Delivery
  • Driving folks to the polls
  • And other efforts to maximize the ‘get out to vote’ initiative

I am out, door-knocking and lit dropping almost daily, weather permitting.

My team and I make phone calls and follow up daily. We use Google Docs and have a set script, so you can make calls from anywhere. The intent is to build awareness of the campaign, hear their concerns, build awareness and potentially sell UCP memberships for the Calgary Shaw area.

Please let me know if you, your kids, or your family are interested in getting involved.

Where things are at now

And while a flashier formal launching via social media will happen soon, I have been door knocking since Mid January. The team has already visited over 6000 doors and is well on its way to reaching our 1000 membership sale goal.

We ordered 30,000 pieces of literature that need to be delivered and have received a lot of support, including from local youth sports teams seeking fundraising assistance. It is also very likely that there will be a 2nd (and maybe even a 3rd) literature piece that will go out through the campaign, including business advertising. If you know of a business that would like to take part, please let me know.

With the new boundary announcement pending, it is very likely that CRANSTON will become part of the CALGARY SHAW area.

So far, two other folks have indicated they might run, but I have not heard of anyone else out hitting the doors yet. It is critical that we be out first, work hard, and set the bar high so that everyone else knows what they are up against should they decide to run.

Again, I appreciate your support, encouragement and friendship.

Mike
