Dear Calgary Shaw UCP Members,
This is my final piece of literature to you during this nomination campaign.
Over the past several months, I have worked tirelessly to earn your support. I have shown up at your doors in -30°C weather and in +28°C heat, rain or shine, because I believe earning your trust requires hard work and commitment.
Throughout this campaign:
- I was the candidate who informed every voter—not just UCP members—about the nomination.
- I was the only candidate to deliver literature to every single door in Calgary Shaw.
- I was the only candidate to knock on more than 15,000 doors.
- I was the only candidate to conduct a comprehensive community survey. The results are available at www.MikeDerry.ca. I have proven that I listen.
- I am the only candidate with a detailed policy platform (at the time of writing this letter).
- I was the candidate who requested the June 22nd Town Hall and Debate.
- In my first letter, I made it clear that you are the employer. Before asking for your support, I believed it was important to tell you who I am, what I have accomplished, and why I am qualified to represent you.
- Through my survey, phone calls, emails, door knocking, literature drops, and online engagement, I have demonstrated that I listen and take your concerns seriously.
- I am the only candidate with signs throughout the constituency, helping build momentum and visibility for our party.
- I am the only candidate who lives in the south. My family and I are active members of this community and will continue to be active in the area I represent.
The reason I decided to seek this nomination is simple: I want to give back to the community and make a difference. I became tired of all the yelling on TV, the radio, and social media. It is time to take a more active role in becoming part of the solution. My private-sector experience working with TELUS, CNRL, and my own consulting company, LegendDERRY Talent, has prepared me to serve effectively. I have hired and fired employees, analyzed organizational performance, designed compensation programs, and advised executives, through to front line employees finding solutions to workplace challenges. A passion has always been developing youth programs to ensure schools and industry work together to provide opportunities for young Albertans.
I understand how large organizations function, where inefficiencies occur, and how to improve performance while maintaining accountability. Most importantly, my experience has taught me how to conduct organizational reviews, identify waste, improve efficiency, and deliver results. Alberta needs more of that approach in government, and I am prepared to bring that experience on day one.
On June 24, you have a clear choice. Choose local. Choose private-sector experience. Choose hard work.

Who Is Mike Derry?
Mike Derry is a Calgary-born business leader, human resources consultant, and community volunteer. He lives in South Calgary with his wife and two sons.
Raised in a small town just outside of the city, Mike learned the value of hard work at an early age, delivering the Calgary Herald before school each morning for four years. Mike was raised with strong family, community, and faith-based values that continue to shape his character and guide his decisions today.
After building a successful career in corporate leadership roles within the energy and telecommunications sectors, including nearly 20 years with organizations such as TELUS and Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), Mike founded LegendDERRY Talent, a human resources and business consulting firm. His work has supported organizations across industries, including energy, construction, manufacturing, aviation, healthcare, education, and telecommunications. Mike holds an Executive MBA (UFred), a Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law (Queens), and professional human resources credentials.
Listening has been a cornerstone of Mike’s professional success. Throughout his career, he has helped individuals and organizations navigate complex challenges by bringing people together, building consensus, and finding practical solutions. He understands that effective leadership begins with listening, and that meaningful problem-solving requires patience, understanding, and collaboration.
Giving back to the community has always been important to Mike and is one of the primary reasons he chose to enter public service. He is passionate about helping others succeed and has volunteered extensively as a youth hockey coach, non-profit board member, policy advisor, and participant in numerous political associations and campaigns.
Mike believes that strong communities are built by people who step forward to serve. He is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of Albertans and believes public service provides an opportunity to create lasting impact for families, businesses, and future generations.
