The following information reads like a detailed resume, and that is by design. Mike Derry is applying for a job as your representative in the legislature, and you are the employer. We feel that you need as much information as possible.

WHO IS MIKE DERRY? Mike Derry was born in Calgary and is 46 years of age with two young boys and a wonderful wife of 18 years. There is a multitude of reasons to support Mike Derry; we have chosen to focus on four.

First, we need to elect people who can manage government departments and have a genuine understanding of people. We also need to nominate someone who understands that budgets do not just balance themselves. Mike Derry has these qualifications. Mike Derry runs his own consulting business and has worked as an employee for small, mid-sized, and large corporations. He spent almost 20 years at TELUS and Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), leading teams and driving business objectives. He has consulted in Engineering & Construction, Aviation, Manufacturing, Telecommunications, Medical, Retail, Post-Secondary Education, Hospitality, and Oil & Gas industries, supporting Albertans across the province. Mike’s successful track record speaks strongly to his ability to manage and support people to perform at high levels. Mike Derry has an in-depth understanding of people and management of organizations, which would be a massive benefit for us as taxpayers. Mike Derry would be an asset in helping identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, behaviours, structures and processes. Mike Derry would help make Alberta more efficient and effective in government and for business.

Secondly, the people of our area need to be represented by someone who values education and has the credentials to prove it. Mike Derry has always excelled in education. Whether it be his Graduate Diploma for Immigration and Citizenship Law from Queen’s University, his Executive MBA from the University of Fredericton, certificates from SAIT, his CPHR from Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of Alberta, or his other training and certificates, Mike’s education will be add value with the Alberta government.

Thirdly, we need to nominate someone as our United Conservative Party candidate who can beat the NDP and Mike Derry has assembled a team that can do just that. Mike is already door-knocking every day and is learning firsthand the concerns of Calgary Shaw’s constituents. Mike has a very experienced campaign team, and we need to have organized candidates in Calgary, which will be the main battleground in forming government. Mike is a proven conservative who sits on the Calgary Shaw UCP board as well as other constituency boards in our area.

Lastly, Mike Derry will consult you at regular intervals, as evidenced by his consultation with you in the survey, this information piece, his phone campaign, and his door-to-door campaign in this nomination. We believe that how one conducts themselves in a campaign is a good indicator of how they will conduct themselves when they are elected.

POLICY CONCERNS: Continue to Support Parental Choice & Rights In Education, Lower Taxes on small business, bring back Ralph Klein’s Flat Income Tax, Balanced Budgets, Conduct an Organizational Review of all provincial departments to identify and eliminate wasteful spending and streamline services. Mike will also fight hard to ensure we do not running deficits or mortgage the future of our children and grandchildren.
